In my opinion, this adds the biggest graphical boost possible as far as any single change goes. With community/unofficial patch v8.4.2 or higher installed, you can modify the screen resolution, though.

This also means that the game was never kept up to date with the latest Source Engine improvements. The developers of Bloodlines were also laid off shortly after Bloodlines' release, so they were unable to continue releasing patches. The reason why higher graphical settings are not readily available (without mods) is because the version of the Source Engine that Bloodlines was created with was a version that was Alpha or early Beta depending on who you cite. Nothing noteworthy, at least, with the exception of changing the resolution (see below).

Unfortunately, it is not likely that you will be able extend the graphics settings beyond what you see available without resorting to mods.
